Surely we all have heard of sulfuric acid, which owing to its extreme acidity can corrode many materials, or of bicarbonate, which soothes stomachaches. These substances are, respectively, acid and basic. Depending on the ratio of OH- and H+ ions the substance will be acid or basic. PH is very easy to determine with the help of pH indicator, a scale used in the classification of acids and bases.

In the video, Juan shows us three glasses with various substances: an acid (hydrochloric acid), a neutral substance (water) and a base (sodium hydroxide). After explaining how universal indicators of pH work, he makes a practical demonstration, in which the strips change color according to the level of pH of the substance in which it is submerged. He also uses another indicator, phenophtaleine, causing color changes that also depend on the pH.
